Jaguar is getting serious about taking the fight to German sport sedans like the BMW M5 and Audi S6. The proof is right here in Los Angeles, in the form of the XFR-S sedan, which is set to arrive next year in extremely limited numbers. Thanks to its 550-bhp supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine, the XFR-S is capable of dashing from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 4.4 seconds. Top speed is a supercar-like 186 mph. According to Jaguar, the XFR-S still achieves the same highway mileage (23-mpg) as the regular XFR. Well done! The wheels and bodywork of the XFR-S have been bulked up to cope with the extra power, and possibly to give fair warning to anything that dares challenge this potent Jag. About the only aero addition we'd chose to delete is the boy-racer-style rear wing. It wouldn't look bad on a normal sports sedan, yet seems somewhat out of place on a genteel (albeit fast-as-hell) Jag. The XFR-S goes on sale in early summer of 2013, with a starting price of $99,000.
