The World's Largest Thermal Solar Plant

Located in Mojave Desert, California. The largest thermal solar plant will have a capacity of 377 megawatts (MW) and it will power 140.000 houses. It will be completed in 2014 and the cost is estimated at $1.6 billion. About 300.000 software controlled mirrors will tack the sun and reflect the sunlight to boilers that sit atop three 459 foot tall towers. This heat is then turned into steam that goes through turbines to generate electricity. It will prevent the emission of over 350,000 metric tons of CO2 a year.
